Import Export Specialist

We are currently seeking a Import Export Specialist for our new and fast growing shipping agency & trading business in Belfast.


As the Import Export Specialist, day-to-day duties will involve dealing with companies worldwide, liaising with overseas agents / customers / haulers, controlling all aspects of Seafreight imports from start to finish and everything in between.


Job description

  • Responsible for handing import & export shipments
  • Handle import shipments from start to finish
  • Managing the full shipping process from start to finish
  • Completing customs entries from start to finish
  • Handling of shipping documentation
  • Ensure records are complete prior to processing, identifying any issues and amending
  • Raising invoices and following up as required
  • Providing quotations to clients and customers
  • Work closely with clients, third party vendors, shipping lines and other forwarders
  • Provide assistance with HMRC and client audits when needed
  • Complete documentation for Import processes
  • Complete customs clearance
  • Liaising with Sister company with shared warehouse
  • Ensure all documents provided by suppliers are correct & compliant
  • Following the hauling of goods
  • Handling of sample product shipments and procedures


Qualifications / Experience:

  • In depth knowledge of Import, Export Deliverables
  • Excellent speaking and verbal proficiency in English & Turkish languages
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Applications
  • Must have driving license
  • Be able to travel and visit other countries
  • Good Working Knowledge of GDP - Good Distribution Practice
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Additional Industry Standard training certificates are beneficial
  • Previous freight forwarding experience is essential
  • Experience of ocean imports is highly desirable
  • Willingness to learn other modes of transport and evolve into a multi-modal operator
  • Up to date knowledge of import regulations
  • Have dealt with end-end logistical processes
  • Experience of working within a fast paced shipping or logistics office
  • Can do attitude taking responsibility
  • Ability to see and grasp opportunities and develop lasting relationships with clients
  • Genuinely passionate in finding solutions for clients
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage workloads
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate
  • Confident in decision making and negotiating
